Dear ladies, Marhaba bikoum. Welcome to Café Al Maghrib. Al Maghrib means Morocco in arabic.

It's situated in north Africa, 16 km from Spain (30mn by speed boat) and 20 hours from the Philippines by plane... But you don't have to travel so far away. Al Maghrib also means the country of sunset... assuming that the sun rises in Japan.

So, by Tursday, october 28, you will start your day somewhere in Metro Manila and travel in the evening to join me at Café Al Maghrib at 173 Guava, Ayala Alabang Village. I'll be happy to present Moroccan culture through a culinary experience full of surprises.

I keep the menu as a secret to be revealed during the diner...but I will give the ingredients as a puzzle we will try to complete all together. Lamb, chicken, seafood, black pepper, Spanish paprika, cumin, eggplant, preserved lemon, coriander (wansoy), onions, garlic, white pepper, turmeric, saffron, clove, couscous, almonds, Cinnamon, tagine...and some other grandma secrets.

So get your Palate ready to travel to the country of sunset and to discover a way of cooking inherited from the 7th century(even older than that) with the flavours of the Road Of Silk.
I'm looking forward to meeting you next Thursday. Have a nice week-end.
Nawal Bendefa Van Oppens
